RE: Eastern Ohio Amateur 54 hole Championship

(West Lafayette, Oh) The 54 hole Eastern Ohio Amateur Championship was played Saturday and Sunday, August 18-19 at River Greens Golf Course. Two Seniors from Powell, Ohio were separated by one shot when the scores were posted. Lynn Martin, the first round leader, held on to defeat his friend Ray Sovik as they were the only in the field to break par for the 2-day event. Brad Baker (Warsaw) and Josh Anderson (Sunbury) finished tied third place at even par 216. Mike Kelley (Westerville) was solo 5th with a 2 over par 218. Tyler Miskel, a member of the Wright State Golf team was sixth at 219, while Doug Lockwood and Matt Gasser tied for 7th place at 220. Matt Shaffer, Tim Cunningham, Mike Koreski and Darren Phipps rounded out the top 10. 

Kent Russell and Mike Kelley were the only competitors to break par the second day in the wind and rain, as they shot a 107. Matt Cooperider was the only player to play even par the second day at 108. 

Martin and Sovik were also 1-2 in the Senior Division, Rich Miller and Kent Russell were tied for third place. Joe Hedrick was 5th place while Don Darr and Tim Cooksey were tied for sixth place. Frank Chasar and Lou Toth were tied 8th.
